on a farm
Ages: Youth in challenging circumstances
Size: 8-15 participants + 2 counselors
Time: 1 week + follow up
(Scholarships from donated funds may be available)
The EXPERIENCE weeks take place on a self-supporter farm. The farm offers accommodation but requires participants to supply groceries and such needs by themselves. This fits our educational approach, because the group itself bears the responsibility for the purchase and preparation of the meals.
Life on the farm provides an ideal backdrop for hands-on challenges in areas such as commitment, perseverance, and responsibility. During this camp, participants are provided with the opportunity to explore their talents in creative and imaginative ways. Depending on the program, activities like woodworking, pottery, “Slow Food (an alternative to Fast Food)”, sustainable agriculture, and many more are offered. One of the goals of an EXPERIENCE week is to help participants gather ideas for their own professional career.
All weeks contain devotionals, which connect the activities to everyday life. Beyond this the staff speaks from their own lives and their Christian walks. In this way, participants are invited into open dialog about life and faith.
